The snow on the ground was was beautiful during the return flight from Phoenix to the East last night. Lifting it in a snow shovel today was not quite as nice an experience.
On Sunday I’ll be heading to Dallas to speak at SHARE. SHARE Inc. is a non-profit, voluntary organization whose Member organizations are users of IBM information systems. It was formed in 1955, just two years after the release of IBM’s first computer as the world’s first organization of computing professionals. SHARE’s mission is to improve the effectiveness of Members’ information systems by providing education, promoting mutual support, and by influencing Information Technology strategies, products, and services. They published a brief interview with me in advance of the conference.
Speaking of conferences, Jupitermedia Corporation (Nasdaq: JUPM) has announced Computer Digital Expo Fall 2003, which will run in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 17-21. The event will consist of four days of exhibits and five days of seminars at the new 1.8 million square foot Mandalay Bay Convention Center and hotel campus. This promises to be a very interesting conference.
On the second morning a joint breakfast was held between BIAC, GIP, and OECD. Since all three organizations were having meetings this week, it made sense to get the key people from each together to discuss common interests. The breakfast discussion was far reaching and benefited each organization’s members with new insights. The BIAC was conducting their "Business Forum on ICTs: Untapped Resources and Opportunities for Continued Growth" and the OECD held the OECD-APEC Global Forum: Policy Frameworks for the Digital Economy.
