New sections may appear every week or just when I have something new to share.

My next talk will be at The Heritage Center in Redding, CT. Another talk is scheduled in June. Neither event is open to the public but I will publish videos if they agree.

Two new videos are now on my YouTube channel. The Hammock Dunes Tech Talk 13 video is here. The Economic Round Table – San Francisco Zoom is here. In case you missed it from a prior post, my podcast with Ron Cey is here.

On April 18, I gave a talk on “The Rise of AI and Bitcoin”for the Newtown, CT Men’s Club. The club has existed for more than 100 years. I had previously spoken to this group about healthcare in 2014 when I was just putting the final touches on my doctorate.

The talk by Zoom for the Economic Round Table – San Francisco was on April 10 . It was members and guests only, but is live on my YouTube channel here

March 28th was my 13th Tech Talk at Hammock Dunes Club. A PDF of my talk is at https://johnpatrick.com/techtalk13.pdf. The video is now available on my YouTube channel. I need to do some editing. I hope to have the final link next week.

As of today, Friday, May 3, 2024, here’s a glimpse into what’s been happening in the crypto world this week:

  • Market Downturn: The major story this week has been the continuation of the crypto market downturn. Bitcoin (BTC) dipped below $60,000 and is currently hovering around $58,000. This comes amid concerns about the global economy and a potential Federal Reserve interest rate hike in the United States. Things turned around during Friday. As of this writing BTC was at $62,471.
  • BlackRock Bullish on Crypto ETFs: In a more positive light, a BlackRock insider revealed that the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, sees potential in Bitcoin ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) attracting sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. This could signal a significant shift in institutional investor sentiment towards cryptocurrencies. This is what I have been saying for a long time.
  • Binance Uncertainty: The news surrounding Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, continues to be murky.Their founder, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), is awaiting a potential prison sentence after a plea deal on charges related to his company’s past operations.
  • Bitcoin Whales Accumulate: While the overall market is down, there are reports that Bitcoin whales (entities holding large amounts of BTC) have been accumulating during the price pullback, suggesting some investors see this as a buying opportunity.

It’s important to note that the crypto market is very dynamic, and these are just some of the top talking points from this week. For the latest updates, you can check out reliable news sources focused on cryptocurrencies.
