Telehealth company, Doctor on Demand, says lack of access to health care providers in the United States is a massive and growing problem. The company says the average wait time to see a physician is three weeks, and it takes 2-3 hours from the time you leave your home or office to the time you get back home. The company further claims it takes an average of 25 days to see a psychiatrist or psychologist, and nearly half of patients with mental health issues go without treatment. Telehealth solutions, like Doctor on Demand, are trying to address the problem.
Aditi Joshi, MD, is board-certified in emergency medicine and practices full-time with Doctor on Demand, which now has more than 1,400 physicians. Dr. Joshi said, “Looking at a patient and talking to them, it only took about 30 seconds to realize, okay, this is just like me talking to a patient.” If you are curious about telehealth, I highly recommend reading the highlights of a short interview with Dr. Joshi.
