Home Attitude is getting close. Soon you will have access to many ideas about how to make your home smart, whether your home is a house, an apartment, or a condo. The CreateSpace team did a good job of interior editing. The manuscript proof has nice fonts, and the headers and footers, table of contents, etc. look just the way I hoped. This week, I reviewed the digital proof and shared it with a few friends and family. Collectively, we found just three errors. CreateSpace made the changes and sent another digital proof, which I approved.
The other accomplishment this week was creation of the index. The TExtract software app created a starter index in a few seconds. It reviewed the 50,000+ words and suggested an index of 3,414 words and phrases. Each was assigned a relevance ranging from 1 to 9. I reviewed all the suggestions and and fine tuned the recommendations of the software. The final index includes 260 entries. I created a two-column version of the index, which turned out to be five pages. I uploaded the index to CreateSpace and they are now incorporating it into the manuscript. The next step will be to get the final page count, which I expect to be 192. I will multiply the final count times .0025, which reflects the thickness of the cream-colored pages. The final calculation will include what publishers call the bleed area, an extra .125 inches all the way around. The final cover will be a PDF roughly 12.5 inches by 9.125 inches. Once I make a final review of the cover and upload it, CreateSpace will print a physical proof and overnight the book to me. After reviewing and approving the physical proof, the print version will go on sale on Amazon immediately. Ten days later, the Kindle version will be ready.
I am doing some research on the pricing. I want the print and Kindle versions to be priced attractively and competitively. Next week, I will tell you the final pricing, and hopefully announce the print version is on Amazon.
Stay tuned for Home Attitude, and tell all your friends!
