“Robot Attitude, John Patrick’s latest book in his renowned Attitude Series clearly and concisely discusses the three areas where artificial intelligence will have an impact: use of robot technology, their future impact on humankind, and how we humans can manage the transition. It’s required reading for anyone interested in what will likely be the greatest transition humankind has yet undergone.”
Ronald H. Gruner, Founder, Alliant Computer and Shareholder.com

“Reflection is serious thought. Reflection is a mirror returning images and ideas. John Patrick in his new Attitude book provides both in a provocative and illuminating consideration of themes, trends, and important developments that he has shared over many years. The wide range of his insights is so impressive and energizing.”
James Neal, University Librarian Emeritus, Columbia University, Past President, American Library Association

John’s Blog
My first website was at ibm.com/patrick. It was modest. As the site evolved, I got a lot of ideas for things to add. I was encouraged by the many emails from visitors and constant feedback, ideas, and technical assistance from several IBM colleagues. I added sections about my hobbies: gadgets, running, GPS, music, and technology. In 1996, I began to write short stories I called “Reflections” and put them on the website. Reflections were about meetings with an IBM customer, visits to a university campus, speeches I gave at a technology conference, thoughts about some issue of the day, or something new I had learned. Reflections were not an attempt to be profound but simply a way to share. My Reflections were a precursor to blogging, and shortly after I started writing Reflections, blogging software came on the market. I was an early adopter. I converted all Reflections into the blogging format and they exist on johnpatrick.com. As of May 2023, the site included more than 2,500 blog posts in 88 categories. I call the posts stories.
