It was a 275 mile motorcycle ride and I have to admit it was exhausting — but worth it. The day started out early Ion a cloudy Saturday morning. The back roads of New York State lead me to Woodstock where I met with my brother who had ridden there from upstate New York. After checking out the new 2003 models of Harleys at the Woodstock Harley-Davidson dealer, we rode into the town of Woodstock.

Most people my age remember Woodstock as the town that has given its name to music festivals, and earned a reputation in 1969 when a new famous concert was held there. We saw many shops which were displaying the work of a community of American painters and craftsmen. Woodstock also has recital halls where classical, jazz and popular music ensembles perform. Not bad for a little town which began centuries ago as a hub of farming, quarrying and tanning.

After lunch we headed for a ride through the Catskill Mountains and then on our separate ways back to upstate New York and Connecticut. It was a great day. In fact, it has been a great week.
